What the data centre decision means for engineering careers
Data centres becoming critical national infrastructure makes mission critical engineering an interesting area to watch. It also raises the bar for resilience and for the quality of the people designing, building and operating those facilities.
If you work in electrical infrastructure, controls, mechanical systems or commissioning, there may be useful overlap with your current experience. The key is to explain exactly what you have delivered: scale, uptime requirements, live site restrictions and your responsibility when things went wrong.
For clients, transferable experience deserves a proper conversation. A rigid sector label can obscure a candidate who understands the real technical challenge.
