Critical infrastructure depends on reliable handovers
A recent government charter on telecoms modernisation focuses on protecting critical services as networks change. It is a good reminder that upgrading infrastructure is not just about finishing the installation. The service still needs to work throughout the change and after the team has left.
The same thinking applies in water, energy and mission critical facilities. Method statements, testing, commissioning, records and communication between teams can make or break a project. People who take handover seriously are worth their weight in gold.
When I speak with candidates, I like to hear the awkward parts of a project as well as the final outcome. How did you manage an outage, an unexpected issue or a late design change?
