Counter offers need an honest conversation

Counter offers need an honest conversation

If somebody accepts your offer and then receives a counter offer, ask what prompted the move in the first place. A pay rise may solve a pay problem; it may do very little for a poor commute, limited progression or the work itself.

Don’t pressure somebody into a quick decision. Give them space to weigh both options and be clear about what your role can offer. I’ve seen people stay and be happy, and others regret it. There’s no universal rule.

What matters is that the candidate makes the decision for the right reasons and that everyone involved communicates properly.
