Design Manager – Aviation

Location: Stansted
Salary: Up to £75,000, plus company car or car allowance

We’re looking for a Design Manager – Aviation to lead design delivery on a major programme at Stansted Airport. Planned work includes a new baggage line, a car park extension and a satellite rebuild, with schemes reaching approximately £80 million.

What you’ll be doing

As Design Manager – Aviation, you’ll lead the design team and coordinate electrical and building services design across the programme. You’ll:

• Plan design resources and oversee the quality and progress of technical deliverables.
• Work with architects, consultants, specialist subcontractors and delivery teams.
• Review designs for safety, compliance, buildability and value.
• Manage design changes and their programme and commercial implications.
• Support procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Mentor and develop engineers within the team.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced Design Manager – Aviation or senior design professional with a strong electrical engineering or building services background. You’ll know how to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage design governance and CDM responsibilities, and make sound decisions on technically demanding projects.

Airport experience would be valuable, though experience in other complex buildings or operational infrastructure could transfer well.
