Telemetry Technician / Engineer – Water Industry

Base: Reading, with field work across Southern Water and Thames Water sites
Pay: Up to £25 per hour, plus overtime
Hours: 42-hour basic week; overtime paid after 42 hours
Travel: Paid door to door

We’re looking for a Telemetry Technician / Engineer to join a well-known SME delivering technical work across the water industry. You’ll work on operational sites, including pumping stations, installing, servicing and commissioning the systems that allow assets to be monitored and controlled remotely.

Our client is an established specialist contractor supporting water sector installations, upgrades and maintenance. You’ll join a knowledgeable team with access to training and a varied programme of work across Southern Water and Thames Water sites.

What you’ll be doing

As a Telemetry Technician / Engineer, you’ll:

• Install, configure and commission Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and associated telemetry equipment.
• Set up and test signals, communications and connections to control systems.
• Service existing installations, investigate faults and carry out repairs.
• Work with site teams to integrate new equipment with operational water assets.
• Complete test records, commissioning documentation and handover information.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an NVQ Level 3 qualified Telemetry Technician / Engineer with hands-on experience setting up, servicing and commissioning telemetry systems. You’ll understand RTUs and their use on water sites, particularly pumping stations, and be confident finding and resolving faults in the field.

Experience with instrumentation, control systems or SCADA integration would be valuable.
