Job Overview & Description

Site Engineer – Utilities & Civil Engineering

Location: Greater Manchester, with projects across the North West
Salary: Up to £45,000
Type: Permanent, full time

We’re recruiting a Site Engineer to support a varied programme of work across multi utilities, water, civil engineering, industrial and commercial projects. You’ll help turn drawings into accurately built works while developing your experience across different types of site.

The company

Our client is an established, growing civil engineering and utilities contractor with a strong pipeline across the North West. Its teams deliver essential infrastructure and construction work, offering engineers the chance to build broad experience rather than stay on one type of scheme.

What you’ll be doing

As a Site Engineer, you’ll work with site managers, project managers and subcontractors to make sure works are set out correctly and built to specification. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting out works using drawings, specifications and surveying equipment.
  • Checking levels, dimensions and construction tolerances.
  • Supporting delivery across groundworks, drainage, highways and concrete works.
  • Inspecting work and maintaining quality records and Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Recording progress, variations and as-built information.
  • Raising technical issues early and helping site teams resolve them.
  • Checking subcontractor work against drawings and quality requirements.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have practical Site Engineer experience on civil engineering or infrastructure projects and be confident reading drawings and using setting-out equipment. Experience in groundworks, drainage, excavation, highways or concrete structures would all be relevant.

A CSCS card, First Aid at Work and full UK driving licence are required. A civil engineering qualification and SMSTS would be useful, though the focus is on your ability to deliver accurate work on site.

What’s on offer

  • Salary up to £45,000.
  • 24 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Private healthcare and a company bonus scheme.
  • Internal and external training, with support to develop your qualifications.
  • Varied North West projects and opportunities to progress as the business grows.

If you’re a Site Engineer who wants more variety and room to develop, apply today or contact J3A Recruitment for a confidential conversation about this Site Engineer opportunity.
