Planner – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: Up to £65,000
Type: Permanent, full time
We’re recruiting a Planner to support civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Greater Manchester and the wider North West. You’ll help shape programmes at tender stage, then keep them accurate and useful as projects move through delivery.

Our client is an established civil engineering and utilities contractor with a growing portfolio of infrastructure work. Its teams deliver projects across sectors including highways and utilities. As the business grows, it’s investing in the people and planning capability needed to deliver its future projects well.
What you’ll be doing
As a Planner, you’ll work closely with project managers, site teams and commercial colleagues to build and maintain clear, realistic programmes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Supporting tender and pre-construction planning.
- Tracking progress and updating programmes throughout delivery.
- Identifying delays, programme risks and opportunities early.
- Supporting NEC programme requirements, including changes and compensation events.
- Working with clients and subcontractors to make sure programmes reflect resources, sequencing and key milestones.
- Providing programme reports and supporting project forecasts.
What we’re looking for
You’ll have experience as a Planner, Project Planner or Planning Engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction. You’ll be confident using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, understand NEC contracts and be able to interpret drawings and project information.
Experience in highways, utilities, water, structures or groundworks would be particularly useful. A relevant HNC, HND or degree would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. A full UK driving licence is required.
