Mechanical Fitter – Water Industry

Location: Dewsbury, with travel to project sites
Pay: Up to £17 per hour, with overtime available
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Type: Permanent

We’re recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to install and maintain specialist ventilation systems on water industry projects. You’ll join an established site team doing practical engineering work, with opportunities to develop your skills as the business grows.

The company

Our client is a growing environmental engineering business that delivers systems to control odours, gases, fumes and other emissions. It has a strong focus on the water industry, including work around Yorkshire Water, and is expanding its site team to support a busy project pipeline.

What you’ll be doing

As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll work primarily on PVC and GRP ductwork, fans and associated mechanical assemblies. Your duties will include:

• Dismantling, installing and reassembling mechanical systems.
• Supporting pre-commissioning tests and commissioning of ventilation systems.
• Inspecting existing systems, identifying faults and recording your findings.
• Carrying out preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
• Reading drawings and schematics to plan work safely.
• Working with the project team to prepare for upcoming site activities.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have practical experience installing ductwork and be comfortable working with tools, drawings and mechanical equipment. You’ll take pride in safe, tidy work and be able to adapt when moving between project sites.

A CSCS card and full UK driving licence are required. Experience with GRP glassing or on water industry sites would be useful, but isn’t essential.
