Environmental performance keeps the pressure on delivery
The water industry remains under intense scrutiny over environmental performance. Ofwat set out new powers under the Water (Special Measures) Act 2025 to take tougher action where companies fail to protect the environment. That is a strong reminder of the responsibility behind the projects we all talk about.
The response involves more than an announcement or a target. It requires reliable data, sound engineering decisions, good supervision and teams who follow through. Improving a network or treatment asset while maintaining service is rarely straightforward.
I expect employers to value people who can explain what they actually improved, how they measured it and what they learned along the way. That is far more useful than a CV full of project names.
