Senior Estimator – Civil Engineering & Water

We’re recruiting a Senior Estimator to help secure major civil engineering and water infrastructure projects across the North West. You’ll take a leading role in building accurate, competitive tenders and work with a team that knows how to turn a strong pipeline into deliverable projects.

The company

Our client is an established civil engineering and utilities contractor delivering work across water, highways and wider infrastructure. The business is growing, with major framework opportunities and continued investment in its people. This is a chance to influence which projects it wins and how they are priced from the outset.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Estimator, you’ll lead the preparation of detailed tenders, bringing together technical, commercial and delivery input. Your responsibilities will include:

• Building analytical estimates from first principles.
• Reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications to understand scope and risk.
• Producing accurate quantity take-offs.
• Preparing enquiries and assessing subcontractor and supplier returns.
• Developing pricing strategies with the wider estimating and operational teams.
• Checking that submissions meet tender instructions and deadlines.
• Sharing your knowledge with other members of the estimating team.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have substantial estimating experience in civil engineering, ideally covering water or wastewater, highways, infrastructure or reinforced concrete works. Practical site experience will help you challenge methods and build estimates that reflect how the work will actually be delivered.

The brief calls for an HNC or HND in civil engineering or a related discipline, strong commercial judgement, knowledge of NEC contracts and measurement standards, and experience with estimating software such as Causeway, Conquest, Candy or Valesco.
