Job Overview & Description

Quality Manager – Utilities, Water & Civil Engineering

Location: Greater Manchester, with travel to project sites
Salary: Up to £55,000
Type: Permanent, full time

We’re recruiting a Quality Manager to lead quality across a growing portfolio of utilities, water and civil engineering projects. You’ll manage and develop the Quality Advisors, work with operational leaders and make sure good practice becomes part of everyday delivery across the business.

The company

Our client is an established North West civil engineering and utilities contractor with a broad and growing project pipeline. This is a chance for a Quality Manager to influence standards across multiple teams and help the business deliver consistently as it expands.

What you’ll be doing

As Quality Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the quality management approach across projects and support functions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, coaching and prioritising the work of the Quality Advisors.
  • Maintaining and improving the quality management system, with a focus on ISO 9001.
  • Setting the audit programme and overseeing project, internal and supply chain audits.
  • Working with project teams on quality plans, Inspection and Test Plans and handover processes.
  • Reviewing nonconformances, leading root cause analysis and checking that corrective actions work.
  • Monitoring quality trends and reporting clear measures to senior management.
  • Ensuring client specifications are understood and applied throughout design, construction and commissioning.
  • Building a culture of practical improvement and right-first-time delivery.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have substantial quality experience in civil engineering, utilities or water infrastructure, including experience leading people or coordinating quality activity across several projects. You’ll be confident advising senior managers and site teams alike, and able to turn audit findings into useful improvements.

Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, quality auditing and construction quality documentation is important. Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, NHSS standards or utilities accreditation would be an advantage. A relevant quality qualification, CSCS card and full UK driving licence would be expected.

What’s on offer

  • Salary up to £55,000.
  • 24 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Company bonus and private healthcare.
  • The opportunity to lead and develop a quality team.
  • A broad range of North West infrastructure projects and room to progress as the business grows.

If you’re a Quality Manager who can lead people, strengthen systems and improve what happens on site, apply today or contact J3A Recruitment for a confidential conversation about this Quality Manager opportunity.
