Senior Site Engineer – Utilities & Civil Engineering

Location: Greater Manchester, with projects across the North West
Salary: Up to £55,000
Type: Permanent, full time

We’re recruiting a Senior Site Engineer to take the technical lead on a varied programme of multi utility, water, civil engineering, industrial and commercial projects. This role suits someone who enjoys being close to delivery, solving problems on site and helping less experienced engineers raise their game.

The company

Our client is an established civil engineering and utilities contractor with a growing North West project portfolio. Its range of work gives a Senior Site Engineer exposure to different technical challenges, backed by a business that invests in training and progression.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Site Engineer, you’ll take ownership of setting out, engineering checks and quality control on your schemes. Working with Site Agents, project managers and subcontractors, you’ll:

• Plan and oversee setting out across complex site activities.
• Review drawings and specifications, resolving technical queries before they delay work.
• Check levels, dimensions, tolerances and subcontractor workmanship.
• Maintain quality records, Inspection and Test Plans and as-built information.
• Provide accurate records to support progress reporting and commercial changes.
• Guide Site Engineers, graduates and apprentices.
• Promote safe, efficient working and help site teams solve delivery problems.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring strong site engineering experience from civil engineering, water or utilities projects. You’ll be comfortable taking responsibility for technical accuracy across groundworks, drainage, highways, excavations or concrete works, and confident supporting other engineers.

A CSCS card, First Aid at Work and full UK driving licence are required. An HNC, HND or degree in civil engineering would be valuable, as would SMSTS and experience managing quality documentation.
