Mechanical Fitter’s Mate – Water Industry

Location: Dewsbury, with travel to project sites
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with overtime available
Type: Permanent

We’re recruiting a Mechanical Fitter’s Mate to join a growing team delivering ventilation projects in the water industry. If you’ve worked with ductwork and want to build your skills on site, this role offers plenty of room to develop.

The company

Our client is a specialist environmental engineering business that designs and installs systems to control odours, gases, fumes and other emissions. Its workload is growing, with plenty of activity around Yorkshire Water and projects elsewhere in the UK. You’ll join an established site team and work alongside experienced fitters.

What you’ll be doing

As a Mechanical Fitter’s Mate, you’ll help install, dismantle and maintain mechanical ventilation systems, primarily ductwork and fans. Your work will include:

• Assisting with the assembly and installation of plastic and metal ductwork.
• Helping to remove and reinstall components in working systems.
• Coating ductwork joints with glass fibre, with training where needed.
• Supporting inspections, fault finding and preventative maintenance.
• Using hand tools and equipment safely and keeping work to a high standard.
• Working with other trades to deliver projects safely and on time.

What we’re looking for

Experience installing ductwork is important. You’ll be able to follow drawings and instructions, work well as part of a site team and take pride in doing the job properly. GRP glassing and water industry experience would be useful, but neither is essential.

You’ll need a full UK driving licence and the flexibility to work at different project locations. A CSCS card would be beneficial.
