Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

We’re recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to work on civil engineering, highways and infrastructure projects across Greater Manchester and the wider North West. There are three positions available as our client grows its commercial team.

The company

Our client is an established civil engineering and utilities contractor with a growing portfolio of projects. You’ll join a collaborative team delivering work across highways, drainage, groundworks and wider infrastructure, with room to develop your career as the business expands.

What you’ll be doing

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll manage the commercial side of projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams, clients and the supply chain, you’ll help projects stay financially on track while identifying opportunities to improve value.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing project costs, forecasts, cash flow and commercial reporting.
• Procuring and managing subcontract packages.
• Preparing valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Managing variations, compensation events and contractual change.
• Identifying commercial risks and working with project teams to resolve them.
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have a strong commercial background in civil engineering, highways or infrastructure, with experience managing costs and contracts on projects valued up to £20 million. Knowledge of NEC, JCT and ICE contracts would be valuable, alongside experience in drainage or groundworks.

The brief calls for a Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent experience, CSCS accreditation and a full UK driving licence. You’ll also need the confidence to build good relationships with clients, site teams and subcontractors.
