Senior Planner – Water Infrastructure

Location: Exeter
Salary: Up to £80,000 plus car allowance
Working pattern: Hybrid, with 2–3 days in the office and the remaining days working from home
Hours: 45 hours per week
Type: Permanent, full time

We’re recruiting a Senior Planner to support major infrastructure projects for South West Water. You’ll shape programmes from tender stage through to delivery, helping project teams build realistic plans, identify risks early and keep work moving.

The company

Our client is a Tier 1 UK contractor delivering building and infrastructure projects across a range of sectors. Its water team is supporting a substantial programme in the South West, giving an experienced planning professional the chance to influence how complex schemes are prepared and delivered.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Planner, you’ll work with bid, design, commercial and operational teams to develop programmes that stand up in practice as well as on paper. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading planning input for tenders and live water infrastructure projects.
• Building and maintaining programmes in Primavera P6 and Asta Powerproject.
• Producing resource and cost loaded schedules, construction sequences and phasing plans.
• Tracking progress, analysing the critical path and identifying programme risks.
• Developing recovery plans where work moves off programme.
• Supporting short interval control and five-week lookahead planning.
• Producing clear programme reports and NEC compliant planning information.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced Senior Planner with a strong background in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or water projects. You’ll understand construction methods and project controls, and be able to explain programme decisions clearly to delivery teams and stakeholders.

Advanced experience with Primavera P6 and Asta Powerproject is important, along with resource forecasting, critical path analysis and NEC planning requirements. Professional membership, or progress towards it, would be an advantage.
