Changing sector without starting again
Moving from power into water, from manufacturing into utilities or from another complex environment into mission critical work can be possible. The trick is to explain the overlap properly.
Focus on transferable work: live sites, safety, programme control, electrical or mechanical systems, commissioning, client management and the size of the teams you have led. Be honest about the sector knowledge you still need to build.
You might need a step across before a step up. A good employer will recognise what you already bring and help you close the gap.
